QOTSA are a beast of a band and despite their various line-up changes they still pack a massive punch. This show was in support of their latest album 'Like Clockwork' which is a great album, much improved on their last few efforts.
I've had a love/hate relationship with QOTSA live for many years, given that the first 2 times I saw them they were a disappointment! Once was right after Nick Oliveri left the band and Josh did not give a fuck about the show and just didn't want to be there at all. Which sucks as 'Rated R' and 'Songs for the Deaf' are two of my favourite albums. I had a third chance to see them at Reading Festival and decided to skip them and go see Against Me! who were great and after their set I went back to the main stage to catch the end of QOTSA and they were killing it. I couldn't believe it, was a huge improvement on the last two times and I regretted not seeing more of their set. So when this tour came around I thought fuck it, lets give them another shot live. And they delivered! Me and my drummer Fred had standing tickets and left our two other very jealous friends Jelle and Ben in the seating section and headed to the front. It was a brilliant set and we managed to get right to the barrier which was awesome! Real glad I gave them another chance live, Josh all is forgiven!
The shirts for this tour were all based on their previous album covers and I plumped for a 'Songs for the Deaf' shirt as it was girl fit. However my friend Caspar went the following night and found a 'Rated R' shirt that I would have killed for and Ididn't see which was a bummer. Oh well, cool shirt anyway! Check out QOTSA if you have the chance!
